AI book prize judges face a major speed-reading challenge | Brief letters
Prix Pascal de Littérature IA | Dickensian solicitors | Cleobury Mortimer | Great Tapestry of Scotland | From Bayeux to Britain
The deadline for submissions to the Prix Pascal de Littérature IA, 30 November, is also the date when the shortlisted entries are due to be announced (New prize launches for books co-written with AI, 21 October). It would be interesting to know how the prize-judging jury – whose members are yet to be announced – will be making instant evaluations.

• One of the delights of travelling through Suffolk in the last century was the Dickensian firm of solicitors evoked by a road sign on the A140 just outside Eye, pointing west to Yaxley, Mellis and Stramit (Letters, 20 October). It is long gone, replaced by a shinier one, but only Yaxley and Mellis remain. Clearly no longer a partner, whither Stramit?
