The LATAM AI Intelligence Layer: Tech And Opportunities

Despite gaps, the LATAM AI intelligence layer is rapidly being built and transforming industries.

The region is known for its strong tech talent and innovating companies, and for being home to rapidly evolving digital ecosystems where technologies are deployed with speed and scale.

In this report, international and local executives and experts from Slalom, Making Sense, Asper, Kognia, Ekoparty, and CLM Brazil and Latin America talk about the LATAM intelligence layer, which industries are moving faster and showing growth, and give real on-the-ground insight on what it takes for success in LATAM.

How the LATAM AI Intelligence Layer is being built

AI has consolidated as a strategic priority among Latin American companies. That is one of the main findings of an MIT Tech Review and NTT Data study which surveyed 300 company leaders in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.

The study says that after several years of accelerated adoption, the region is entering a stage where different generations of AIs coexist inside organizations, while investments continue to grow and technology gains space in strategic decision-making.

The report found that while digital transformations are uneven, 84% of companies have prioritized traditional AI, generative AI, and agentic AI. More than half (66%) have a clearly defined AI strategy.

“Latin America has an opportunity to build intelligence differently because it doesn’t always have to follow the same evolutionary path as more mature markets,” says José María Rancano, Director General, Slalom Latam, part of Slalom Consulting, a business and technology consulting firm headquartered in Seattle, Washington, with a presence in LAC countries like Mexico and Colombia.

In financial services, retail, manufacturing, and logistics, companies can combine cloud, real-time data, AI, and automation from the beginning rather than adding them in separate generations, says Rancano.
